Appreciate the Many Performance Venues in Orlando, Florida

If you plan on moving to Orlando, FL, you probably already know there’s much to do, see, and experience. This vibrant Florida city offers a range of performance venues to keep you entertained.

Whether you want to see live music, take in a play, watch dancing, or see a spoken-word performance, you’ll have your pick of unique venues in Orlando, FL. Here are a few favorites.

Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts

From Broadway musicals to dance performances and educational programs to theater camps, there’s always something going on at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.

Located across two blocks in downtown Orlando, FL, the Center houses several performance spaces with over 6,000 seats. These include the Disney Theater, Steinmetz Hall, and the Alexis & Jim Pugh Theater. It’s also home to the AdventHealth School of the Arts and the Seneff Arts Plaza. There’s a reason why this venue is on so many “don’t-miss destinations in Orlando” lists.

The Plaza Live

Since the early 1990s, The Plaza Live has been Orlando’s go-to venue for live musical performances. This venue started as the first two-screen movie theater in the city in the 1960s. A renovation decades later transformed the space into one of the largest seated venues in Central Florida.

With a balcony, state-of-the-art sound tech, and room for more than 1,200 fans, The Plaza Live attracts performers from around the country and the world.

House of Blues Orlando

Blues, rock, reggae— if you love music, you won’t want to miss the House of Blues Orlando. With live performances almost every day of the year, this venue hosts a range of local, national, and international groups.

Best of all, you can enjoy dinner and a show; grab a seat in the restaurant and enjoy live music with your meal. Or purchase tickets for one of the headline events, like concerts and dance parties, at House of Blues throughout the year.

Orlando Family Stage

Head to the Orlando Family Stage for a performance that the whole family can enjoy. With a history that stretches back to 1926, this local theater has provided quality entertainment and theatrical education to kids and their families for almost a century.

Today, the Orlando Family Stage offers culturally diverse programming that appeals to multiple generations. Take in a puppet show or a children’s theater production, or sign up for classes.

Orlando Shakes

The Orlando Shakes company focuses on — you guessed it — the works of Shakespeare. Orlando Shakes operates four venue spaces, including the 100-seat Mandell Studio Theater and the 65-seat Santos Darwin Theater.

Orlando Shakes was founded in 1989 and produces plays both classic and contemporary. And while the works of the Bard are the company’s cornerstone, that’s not all they offer. Check the schedule for a range of events in this unique space.
