Moving From Puerto Rico to the US.

As U.S. citizen, Puerto Ricans can freely travel and move to the U.S. mainland without a passport or visa… thanks to the Jones-Shafroth Act, which grants U.S. citizenship to anyone born on Puerto Rico.

From 2006 to 2019, over 500,000 people have left the island for the mainland, more than 10% of the island’s population. Many of the people have moved from Puerto Rico to New York, Florida, and New Jersey.
