5 Day Trips Near Orlando, FL

Are you preparing to move to Orlando? If so, you’re probably excited at all there is to do and see in the area. So here’s a list of excursions to take when you’re ready to explore the great state of Florida.

1. Kennedy Space Center, Space Commerce Way, Merritt Island, FL 32953

The Kennedy Space Center has served as the leading NASA launch site for human-crewed spacecraft since the 60s, and you and your family will love getting an up-close and personal experience with space. At Kennedy, you’ll be able to meet an astronaut, explore the US Astronaut Hall of Fame, and check out the Atlantis Space Shuttle.

2. Daytona Beach–1200 Main St Bridge, Daytona Beach, FL 32118

Whether you’re a NASCAR fan, you’ll love Daytona Beach. You’ll be able to drive your car on the sand right next to the ocean, and many visitors can’t stop talking about all the wildlife they see both on the shore and in the water. Manatees and dolphins love Daytona just as much as people do. Book a ticket to check out the live action on the track if you’re into racing.

3. Blue Spring State Park–2100 W French Ave, Orange City, FL 32763

If you’re a wildlife lover, you’ll want to be sure to check out Blue Spring State Park from November to March. This is one of the largest springs on the St. Johns River. Blue Spring has a crystal clear water temperature of 73 degrees and is a designated Manatee Refuge, where West Indian Manatees gather in winter. Here you can enjoy seasonal swimming, snorkeling, canoe rentals, scuba diving, narrated river cruises, kayak tours, walking trails, and other amenities. Visit the park early in the day to avoid long lines and waiting.

  1. Fort Lauderdale–Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301

Gorgeous Fort Lauderdale is known as the Venice of America for a reason. The beautiful city has beaches that rival those of Europe. Feeling like you’re ready for a walk on the wild side? Book an airboat tour of the Everglades. When you’re prepared to return to the city’s elegance, be sure to sit down and enjoy dinner at one of the area’s popular Latin and Caribbean restaurants. If the three-hour trip from Orlando is a little bit too long for a single-day trip for your family, book one of the quaint B&Bs in the area.

5. Weeki Wachee Springs State Park–6131 Commercial Way, Spring Hill, FL 34606

If you have little ones, you’ll want to be sure you take them to Weeki Wachee to check out the live mermaid show that takes place underwater! Your kiddos will be amazed as they watch local performers mesmerize the crowd with underwater dancing. Be sure to take plenty of time to enjoy the other exciting things that Weeki Wachee offers, including kayaking on local waterways, playing at the Buccaneer Bay water park, and taking a riverboat cruise.
