Don’t-Miss Dog-Friendly Orlando, FL, Destinations

Are you considering moving to Orlando, FL,  with your dog? Good choice! This Florida city has many dog-friendly destinations. You and your furry friend can always find something to enjoy, from off-leash parks to eateries.

If you and your pet are planning a move to Orlando, Florida, here are some recommendations for some fun things to do.

Off-Leash Parks

Orlando may be best known for its theme parks, but did you know the city boasts ten off-leash dog parks, too? They’re perfect for your dog to play and socialize with other canines.

Though each has its attractions, all Orlando dog parks have a few simple rules, including:

  • Dog owners must stay inside the off-leash area with their pets
  • Dogs must be under voice command
  • Keep sick or aggressive dogs at home
  • All dogs must be currently licensed and up-to-date on vaccinations
  • Owners must have a leash for every dog
  • Clean up after your dog

Some favorite Orlando, FL, off-leash dog parks include Park of the Americas. You’ll find trails and a track where you and your pup can walk your daily steps. The off-leash area is separated into two areas by size.

Barber Dog Park offers separate areas for large and small dogs. You’ll find plenty of open green space where dogs can run and work on agility training structures. There’s also a dog wash station to clean muddy paws.

Lake Baldwin Park sits on 23 acres in Orlando, FL, with a lake, beach, and many trails. Dogs can swim in the lake and walk the paths, while humans take it easy in the shade provided by the park’s giant oak trees.

And speaking of shade, Downey Dog Park also offers plenty of shaded spots and plenty of seating. In addition, this park has a water station, separate play areas for large and small dogs, and a time-out pen if Fido needs a break.

Dr. P. Philips Community Park has grassy stretches where large and small dogs can run. On warm days, you might even find dog swimming pools set up in the off-leash area at this popular park.

Dog-Friendly Eateries

After a fun afternoon playing at the off-leash park, your little buddy will have worked up an appetite. Fortunately, there are many restaurants and pubs around Orlando that welcome pets.

Pup’s Pub is an off-leash establishment that offers food and drinks for humans and dogs alike. Check their website before going, as all dogs must meet vaccination and spay/neuter requirements. Bloodhound Brew welcomes pets, as well. Here you’ll find a full bar, a pub menu, and live entertainment in the evenings.

For ice cream on a hot Florida day, head to Twistee Treat. You can lounge on the patio with a sundae or slushier with your dog. And if you want treats baked especially for your pup, Woof Gang Bakery offers a complete selection of cookies, biscuits, and other goodies.

Moving to Orlando with Dogs

There’s so much for dogs and their humans to do and experience in Orlando; you and your pup can stay busy no matter the season.
