Rodi Cargo: Wind Turbine Transportation
When three large wind turbine blades and a main turbine shaft needed to be transported from the port of Ponce, PR, to Santa Isabel Wind Farm, Pentagon Freight Services called on Rodi Cargo.
After the turbine blades and shaft arrived at the port of Ponce by ship, Rodi Cargo took over the logistics. We contracted for and managed resources, from the Stevedores (dockworkers) in the port to the cranes and operators at the wind farm. Our team oversaw the unloading and loading of the trucks in port, over-the-road transport, and the delivery and unloading at the wind farm. From ship to destination, Rodi handled it all.
As experienced logistics professionals know, the physical transport of the large equipment is only part of the project. Every location through which the equipment is transported requires adherence to local regulations and the granting of permits. Rodi reviewed all requirements, ensured all permits were in place, and confirmed our transport schedule complied with local regulations. As part of the regulatory requirements, our crews worked overnight to ensure minimal disruption to road traffic. Understanding and adhering to the bureaucratic requirements ensures operations can run smoothly when it comes time to do the work.
Thanks to Rodi Cargo, Pattern Energy in Puerto Rico now has an additional wind turbine at the Santa Isabel Wind Farm.
